Okay so I’m sure all you university students have heard of cake-in-a-cup.
Well I have a slight variation to the recipe, but it involves a bowl, I find you use less dishes.
Cake in a Bowl
- 4 tblsp flour
- 4 tblsp sugar
- 2 tblsp cocoa
- 1/4 tsp baking powder
- pinch of salt
- 2 tblsp canola oil
- 1 egg
- 1 tblsp 2% milk
- dash of vanilla extract
Mix dry ingredients first, then mix in wet ingredients into a cereal bowl. The cake batter should be smooth but not too watery. Microwave on high for 3 mins. I like to stop the microwave when there is about 30 seconds left, makes a fluffier cake in my opinion. Take out of the microwave and cool for a couple minutes - it’s going to be hard to resist devouring the cake right away.
I enjoy this with a huge dollop of whipped cream, but that might just be me.
Discovering how to bake cake in the microwave honestly has changed my perspective on baking. I think I want to try to experiment baking other things as well. Any suggestion?
Anyways, I made some bean curry the other day, I forgot to take photos. I still have some leftovers so maybe I’ll remember to take another photo.
Cheers and happy cake eating.
